Fundraisers

 

Girls for the Cure Organizing Committee

• Students organize Breast cancer fundraiser walk in support of the fight against womens’ cancers
• Committee invites guest speakers to reveal their personal experiences with the disease
• In September girls from QAA, Trafalgar, Villa Maria, Sacred Heart, The Study and Miss Edgar and Miss Cramps walk to Mount Royal to raise money for cancer research
• All grades unite when we practice the cheer.

• An award-winning student-produced literary magazine showcasing student writing, artwork, and photography
• Composed of a team of editors and artists
• Responsibilities include soliciting, generating, and editing all submissions and creative control over layout and design

• 3 day event consisting of 2 night ski passes and 2 day ski passes
• Students stay in condos 3 minutes away from the mountain
• Group departs QAA on a Friday afternoon and arrives back on Sunday evening
• Great experience for all levels of skiers or snowboarders
• Wonderful bonding time with classmates

Trip to Stratford

• A three day cultural and friendship event for graduates and their supervising teachers
• Day 1: Arrive in Toronto, shop at Eaton’s Center before meeting for dinner, followed by a theatre outing
• Day 2: Leave for Stratford and see 2 additional plays and have dinner
• Day 3: Group breakfast and return trip to Montreal.

Arts Festival  (visual & performance)

• Evening show involves QAA’s Music, Dance and Drama students, and the Chorale –
• Students perform pieces they've prepared throughout the school year

Chorale

• Performs music of all styles from Classical to Jazz to Pop
• No formal training or experience is required
• Students must audition to be accepted
• Performs at Honour Roll Assembly, Advent Liturgy, Easter Liturgy, and the Performing Arts Festival
• Receives invitations to perform off campus at retirement homes, elementary schools, and churches
• Performing with Loyola High School Boys' Chorus since Fall of 2005 at various events at both Loyola and QAA.

• Opportunity for students to enhance their French language skills with readings and films, followed by discussion.

Drama Club

• Produces student-run plays

• Secondary 4 or Secondary 5 student directors choose the play and members of the cast, and direct it

• Production coordinators stage the entire production and are responsible for sets, lighting, make up, front of house and much more

• Student directors run 8 workshops to get to know new actors and to determine their dedication and suitability and so that their decisions are not based on a single audition

• Workshops are open to all students who want to try out acting and have fun. They run from 3:15-4:45 pm, October to November

• Auditions are held at the end of November

• Students interested in working behind the scenes meet in January.
